Road user behaviour, safety under the spotlight at conference
School pupils have been invited to join the discussion and offer their insights as pedestrians & passengers.
JOHANNESBURG - Issues of road safety and user behaviour are being discussed at a colloquium at the University of Pretoria.
Those participating include industry experts, policy makers and school pupils from across Pretoria.
School pupils have been invited to join today's discussion and offer their insights as pedestrians, passengers and public transport users.
Mpho Mokgantse of the Road Traffic Management Corporation says it's especially important for young people to participate as they constitute the highest number of South Africa's road fatalities.
"We need to have dedicated programmes that are aimed at ensuring that young people know how to be good road users."
Transport Minister Dipuo Peters is expected to address delegates later today.
In addition, research on road user behavior in the country will also be presented.
