JOHANNESBURG - City Power says the power grid remains stable after a week of outages that caused great frustration to many people across Johannesburg, but some areas such as Lawley and Ennerdale south of Johannesburg remain without electricity due to cable theft.

Last week, residents in Eldorado Park and Dube in Soweto were left without power due to faulty cables.

City Power and Eskom also urged residents and businesses to reduce their reliance on power as the grid battled to cope with increased demand caused by the recent cold spell.

City Power's Yumna Shaik said, "There are no planned outages taking place this week but in Lawley and Ennerdale we have technicians on site who are trying to restore power as soon as possible."
