JOHANNEBSURG - Social Justice activist Gillian Schutte said it appears as if Pretoria High Court judge Mabel Jansen doesn't understand that her comments claiming "rape is part of black culture" is racist.

Jansen has turned to twitter calling Schutte a "coward" and blaming her for placing her and her family's life in danger.

Jansen joined a public debate on Schutte's Facebook page last year, where the judge claimed rape is part of black culture.

Jansen has since been placed on special leave.

Schutte said there seems to be a pattern with Jansen and that she doesn't see anything wrong with her statements.

"Clearly this shows an absolute inability for her to understand what racism is."

She said it appears now that Jansen is trying to play the sympathy card.

She also wrote 'activist Gillian Schutte knew how dry racial tinder is yet lit the match intentionally'.

Schutte said it appears as if Jansen doesn't have any remorse.

"I'm not sure if I'm surprised because it seems to be a pattern with judge Mabel Jansen that she doesn't see anything wrong in the statement she made both in public and the summary of the statements she inboxed me during that public discussion."

Last month, when the messages surfaced Jansen claimed she was quoted out of context.
