Mayoral committee member for safety and security, JP Smith, says the City of Cape Town's emergency communications centre receives an average of 10,000 prank calls a year.

JOHANNESBURG - Mayoral committee member for safety and security, JP Smith, says the City of Cape Town's public emergency communications centre is flooded with prank calls.

Smith say this amounts to an average of 10,000 prank calls a year, which often leaves staff members traumatised.
