Corruption cloud hangs over Linda Mti following SIU probe
The SIU says its report implicating Mti in tender fraud is with the anti-corruption task team.
CAPE TOWN - The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) says its report implicating former National Correctional Services Commissioner Linda Mti in tender fraud, is with the anti-corruption task team.
The SIU says the report had also been handed to the Presidency after an almost decade-long investigation.
The investigation found Mti allegedly benefited financially through alleged corrupt dealings with Bosasa Operations.
Mti is now Nelson Mandela Bay Metro's Safety and Security head, despite the SIU report implicating him in corruption.
According to the report, Mti, when he was the prisons boss between 2004 and 2005, awarded several tenders to Bosasa Operations under questionable circumstances.
Bosasa is alleged to have bought Mti a mansion and a luxury vehicle.
Former Correctional Services Chief Financial Officer, Patrick Gillingham, allegedly also benefited improperly.
The SIU has recommended criminal charges should be considered against Linda Mti.
