ANC in Mandela Bay to resubmit councillor candidate lists
The party says disgruntled members from eight wards are unhappy about some of the names on the list.
CAPE OWN - The African National Congress (ANC) in Nelson Mandela Bay says it will resubmit its councillor candidate list after protests by some of the party's members.
The Herald newspaper is reporting that provincial executive committee members were held hostage for 10 hours on Tuesday.
ANC spokesperson Beza Ntshona says disgruntled members from eight wards are unhappy about some of the names on the list.
Ntshona says upon investigation, several errors were picked up.
"There were issues like duplication. Some issues are in relation to the popular candidates versus the candidates recommended by the committees. So we are dealing with them case by case."
