Case of suspect accused of killing Grassy Park cop postponed
Constable Lindekile Sikade was shot dead in his driveway while sitting in a marked police vehicle.
CAPE TOWN - The case against two men accused of killing a senior Grassy Park police officer has been postponed in the Athlone Magistrates court.
Constable Lindekile Sikade was shot dead outside his Phillipi East home earlier this year.
A formal bail application will be heard next month.
Mhlangabezi Mqulo and Luyanda Thafeni made another brief appearance in court today after they were arrested last week.
Sikade was shot dead in his driveway while sitting in a marked police vehicle.
Speaking to Eyewitness News outside court, Thafeni's relatives remained adamant he is not linked to the crime.
They say his car tracker will prove he was not at the scene of the crime on the morning of the shooting.
But Hawks investigators believe they have a strong cause against both accused.
The men will remain in custody in Pollsmoor Prison until their next court appearance in July.
