JOHANNESBURG - The ANC Youth League (ANCYL) says the R150,000 fine handed to Penny Sparrow is insufficient considering the damage she's caused.

The ANC took action against Sparrow after she sparked a social media storm earlier this year when she compared black people to monkeys.

She was fined by the Equality Court in KwaZulu-Natal last week.

Youth league secretary general Njabulo Nzuza says they are not entirely happy with the outcome of her case.

"Is this enough that a racist must and then move away?"

Nzuza was not impressed that there is a group raising funds for the racist.

"We would not be surprised if these are members of the Democratic Alliance."

The league says the only way to deal with racists is to put them behind bars.
