Henri van Breda to spend the night behind bars

Cape Town police have confirmed Henri is facing three murder charges and one of attempted murder.

CAPE TOWN - Twenty-one-year-old Henri van Breda will spend the night in the Stellenbosch Police Station's holding cells after handing himself over in connection with the murder of his parents and older brother.

Martin and Theresa van Breda and their eldest son Rudi were hacked to death with an axe in their De Zalze home in Stellenbosch in January last year.

Their daughter Marli van Breda, who was 16 at the time, was seriously wounded.

Cape Town police have confirmed a Henri is facing three murder charges and one of attempted murder.

The suspect was asked to hand himself over to police in the presence of his lawyer this afternoon.

Police have not named the suspect, but it has been confirmed that the 21-year-old arrived at the police station with his lawyer this afternoon.

He's expected to appear in the Stellenbosch Magistrates Court tomorrow.

Several media organisations are camped outside the Stellenbosch Police station in the hope of spotting a relative who may visit him overnight.
