Atlantis rape accused to have parole for previous crime revoked
A 12-year-old boy was beaten and raped in an open field about two weeks ago.
CAPE TOWN - A man accused of raping a 12-year-old boy in Atlantis will have his parole for a previous crime revoked.
During a brief appearance this morning, the 24-year old has been remanded in custody.
The child had been beaten and raped in an open field about two weeks ago.
The accused cannot apply for bail due to a previous conviction.
Eyewitness News has learned the 24-year-old accused was convicted of child rape in 2009 and sentenced to 10 years.
He only served five years before being granted parole.
Angry community members staged a silent protest outside court calling for bail to be denied.
