SA celebs celebrate after bagging top awards
There were a number of noteworthy moments at this year's SA Music Awards at the Durban ICC.
JOHANNESBURG - Some of the country's best talent have been celebrating after scoring top honours at the South African Music Awards.
The event, held at the Durban ICC on Saturday, saw a sold out audience with fans waiting to see who would walk away with some of the most coveted awards.
The most talked about performance was a tribute by new talent Nakhane Touré and Moneoa Moshesh with their own rendition of Lebo Mathosa's I Love Music.
But it was DJ Black Coffee and singer Nathi Mankayi who stole the show.
Mankayi, whose debut album went double platinum last year, walked away with five awards, while DJ Black Coffee bagged four awards including best dance album.
The most anticipated award for the evening went to local rapper Emtee, who won record of the year with almost 40,000 votes from the public.
While it has not released an official number, the recording industry of South Africa says this year's awards saw the most voting entries from fans across the country.
