Lily Mine management, employees to meet over unpaid salaries
Mineworkers say there’s been no clear communication about why they’ve not been paid their April wages.
JOHANNESBURG - Managers from the Lily Mine in Mpumalanga are due to meet with employees today to discuss salary issues.
Mineworkers say bosses have not been communicating adequately about why they've not been paid their April wages.
The Lily Mine was placed under business rescue, following a shaft collapse in early February.
Three workers have been trapped in a container underground ever since.
Miner Dean Ackerman says management needs to answer their questions.
"We want to know when our salaries will be paid. They owe us two months' [salaries], overtime pay and leave pay."
