KZN authorities seize R15m worth of tik

JOHANNESBURG - KwaZulu-Natal authorities have seized crystal meth with a street value of R15 million at the Durban harbour.

Sixty kilograms of the drug, also known as tik, was discovered at the container terminal earlier today.

Officials say several cargo bags full of the drug had been concealed between boxes of food.

The bust was a joint intelligence operation between the Hawks, Sars and the Harbours Operational Response Service.

KZN Hawks spokesperson Simphiwe Mhlongo says incoming containers are being monitored.

"We are continuing with the search, as well as monitor other containers because we are working together with Sars, Durban Harbours Operational Response Service to ascertain if there are more containers that contain drugs."
