JOHANNESBURG - Police have confirmed that acting National Police Commissioner Khomotso Phahlane sustained minor injuries during an attempted robbery at a spa in Rosebank.

It's understood Phahlane was accompanying his wife to a spa when two men, wearing balaclavas and carrying guns, entered the building.

Police say a scuffle ensued between Phahlane and the two suspects before they escaped.

No one has been arrested but police are continuing their investigations.

Hawks spokesman Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi says no items were taken from the premises.

"There was a scuffle between the acting police commissioner and the two suspects. They then ran away and as they ran, a suspect fired a shot. They got into a silver Golf which is now the subject of the investigation."
