CAPE TOWN - According to Auditor-General Kimi Makwetu's local government audit, the number of municipalities that have received clean audits has increased from 13 five years ago to 54 in 2014/15.
Makwetu's report, which was released in Pretoria yesterday, showed that municipalities with clean audit opinions represented R134 billion (39%) of the R347 billion total expenditure budget for the municipal sphere.
