CAPE TOWN - Motorists have been cautioned to avoid some roads leading to Mitchells Plain due to protest action.

A group of protesters are burning tyres and rubble along Jakes Gerwel Drive, close to the Siqalo informal settlement.

It's believed disgruntled residents are demanding services.

The City of Cape Town's Richard Coleman says, "We closed Jakes Gerwel Drive at the R300 in both directions due to protest action and tyres and rubble in that roadway."
