JOHANNESBURG - Minister in the Presidency Jeff Radebe says the National Development Plan (NDP) is imperative to economic growth and it is not up to government alone to achieve its goals.
Radebe was speaking at a debriefing session following the recent the World Economic Forum (WEF) Africa Summit, held in Rwanda.
He said the plan it is not solely government's responsibility.
"The National Development Plan is an almost universally lauded document by all South Africans. The actions, therefore, that is set out for our country to grow, to eliminate poverty and reduce inequality, are both sound as well as achievable. However, we need to accelerate the implementation process."
Radebe said it was clear from the recent summit that South Africa remains a fast-growing investment destination.
The minister said he told investors in Kigali that South Africa is open for business and they are listening.
"Our institutions are functioning, they are secure and governed by strong principles of transparency and principles of independence."
