Malema: EFF supports Hammanskraal residents in fight to occupy land

The EFF leader says the red berets fully supports the people of Hammanskraal in their fight to occupy land.

JOHANNESBURG - Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema says the party fully supports the people of Hammanskraal in their fight to occupy land.

Malema was speaking at his party's Elective Conference in Midrand yesterday, where candidates will be chosen to run for the municipal elections.

He says party members who become ward councillors should be willing to work 24/7 for the communities they serve.

Malema has called on the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) to ensure that voters bring their proof of address on polling day, to ensure that the elections are free and fair.

"So I said in the manifesto, it's only us and the African National Congress (ANC) in these elections. Unless the IEC enters the contest through conspiring to rig the votes."

The EFF leader says the court ruling on Tlokwe is proof that the ANC is capable of rigging votes, and this must be attended to before 3 August.

The EFF will contest the over 200 wards and will announce its final candidates list once it is complete.

WATCH: We ran for our lives, say Hammanskraal survivors.
