Funeral plans underway for Mangaung deputy mayor
Connie Rampai passed away at the weekend after her car collided with a truck on the N1 Highway.
JOHANNESBURG - The Mangaung Municipality says plans for a memorial service and funeral are underway for Deputy Mayor Connie Rampai who was killed in a car crash.
Rampai's car collided with a truck on the N1 near Wynburg in the early hours of Saturday morning.
It's believed she was attempting to overtake another truck when the head-on collision happened.
The municipality says Rampai was making her way back to Bloemfontein from the African National Congress (ANC)'s election lists meeting in Pretoria.

Mangaung spokesperson Qondile Khedama says Rampai's death is loss to the municipality and its residents.
"The broader society of Mangaung have described her as respectful, thoughtful and committed to her work, so we want to send the messages of condolences to the family of Rampai."
