JRA warns motorists of heavy delays, congestion on M1 this afternoon
This morning, the JRA closed one of the lanes on the southbound carriage way.
JOHANNESBURG - The Johannesburg Road Agency (JRA) is warning motorists travelling on the M1 South this afternoon to expect heavy delays due to maintenance work.

It says the maintenance work between Killarney and St Andrews Road will be complete by February next year; and the double decker section by July 2017.

Spokesperson Sean Phillips says, "We are doing studies at the moment, on possible upgrades either to the M1 or to other routes to relieve the congestion. The work that is happening at the moment is maintenance work - particularly addressing storm water drains and replacing rails."
