JOHANNESBURG - Security has been increased at Wits University this morning after gas cylinders were found at the law library.
Management says two masked suspects entered the library through an open window yesterday and canisters were later discovered.
It's not yet clear whether the suspects are students.
Wits spokesperson Shirona Patel says the safety of students and staff is paramount.
"The safety and security of our staff, students and property remains paramount and additional security has been deployed at strategic points on our campuses."
She says police will maintain their presence on Wits campuses until further notice, and remain on standby throughout the examination period.
