JOHANNESBURG - Over 50 people, including Home Affairs officials, have been arrested for fraud and corruption at the Beitbridge border post in Musina, Limpopo.
The suspects were apprehended during a crime prevention operation between Home Affairs and the Hawks yesterday.
The department says 28 of those arrested are Home Affairs officials.
Minister Malusi Gigaba has applauded the arrests, saying it demonstrates that his department is serious about fighting illegal activities.
Spokesperson Mayihlome Tshwete says, "The minister has given a very clear directive to the department to rid itself of those officials who continue to engage in irregular or illegal activities that taint the good work that the department is doing."
