JOHANNESBURG - The Gauteng Provincial Legislature will debate provincial department's budgets from today.
MECs will this week present their budgets for the 2016/17 financial year.
Each department will be taking stock of the successes and failures of the previous financial year and will also present their new budgets.
Members of the legislature have had time to study the various departments proposed budgets and today the opposition is expected to challenge the MECs while giving possible alternatives.
Premier David Makhura and Human Settlements MEC Paul Mashatile will present their budgets today.
In March, Finance MEC Barbara Creecy said the budget had increased from R97 billion last year to R103, R36 million this year, with the departments of Education and Health receiving the lion's share.
