JOHANNESBURG - The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) has reminded South Africans that tomorrow is the last day to register for the 2016 municipal elections.

Des Van Rooyen, Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs Minister, is expected to officially proclaim the local government elections tomorrow.

Last month, President Jacob Zuma announced elections would be held on 3 August.

The IEC's Kate Bapela says, "The minister is expected to proclaim the 2016 elections tomorrow which means that the voters' roll will close on Monday at 5pm. We are urging all South Africans to register to vote for this election."
