DA promises to reduce unemployment rate in Midvaal
Mayor Bongani Baloyi says the current 12% unemployment rate in the area will drop to a single digit.
JOHANNESBURG - The Democratic Alliance (DA) has made six promises to supporters in Midvaal at its election manifesto launch for the municipality
The party says it's confident it will retain the municipality in the upcoming elections
Mayor Bongani Baloyi says good governance has led to only a 12 percent unemployment rate in the area, saying it will drop to a single digit.
A large crowd has come to listen to the DA's election plan.

The Midvaal is the only Gauteng municipality governed by the DA.
The party is opposing attempts to have Midvaal merged with the Sedibeng Municipality.

A focus on the youth is at the heart of the six promises Baloyi has made, including boosting tourism.
"We will champion initiatives, such as Kgatelopele, that will assist in tackling the problem of unemployment amongst young people specifically in Midvaal."
Baloyi says the DA will continue to fight the demarcation board should the municipality face the possibility of being merged with Sedibeng and Emfuleni
