‘Current mechanisms continue to fail rape culture victims’

A conversation that traces the legacy of violence and abuse was also on the agenda at the Kingsmead Book Fair earlier today.
Author Pumla Gqola says rape culture will remain unaddressed if conversations around the issue remain at surface level.
"We are not going to end the rape crisis if we continue acting like only certain people can talk about it or certain organisations are responsible for ending the rape culture."
Rape survivor Criselda Grootboom detailed her journey of being gang raped at the age of nine and eventually growing up to a life of prostitution and sex trafficking.
