SABC now spending 3-times more on 'New Age' copies
It’s understood the SABC concluded contracts for newspaper subscriptions at a cost of over R700k.
In a Parliamentary response to a Democratic Alliance (DA) question, the minister said the public broadcaster had concluded contracts for newspaper subscriptions at a cost of more than R700,000 since May 2014.
In 2011, the SABC was spending around R238,000.
DA Member of Parliament Phumzile van Damme slated the minister during a vote on her department's budget in Parliament yesterday.
"And it's absolutely useless for government to buying subscriptions of the New Age. It is clear that this department is the department propaganda, the department used to support Gupta business and the DA can't and will not support it."
