JOHANNESBURG - World Rugby has appointed South African entrepreneur Wendy Luhabe to its newly appointed executive committee.
Luhabe is chair and founder of the Women Private Equity Fund, South Africa's first private equity fund for women, and has held governance roles with Vodacom, the Industrial Development Corporation, the International Marketing Council and the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE).
World Rugby Chairman Bernard Lapasset says his organisation is delighted to welcome Luhabe.
The South African entrepreneur says she's looking forward to combining her broad business and education skills to help better the game.
She has more than 26 years' experience as a non-executive director in diverse industries and public sector companies.
According to World Rugby, Luhabe's appointment, along with that of Mervyn Davies, are central to a new governance model that will see the governing body deliver a more streamlined governance structure.
Luhabe will take office from 1 July, under the next chairman Bill Beaumont.
