'There's no conflict in government over SAA'
Minister Rob Davies says it’s incorrect to presume there's conflict in govt over economic policy & SAA.
KIGALI - Trade and Industry Minister Rob Davies says it's not correct to presume there's conflict in government over economic policy and South African Airways (SAA).
Last week, President Jacob Zuma said that SAA would never be sold after Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan had said that an equity stake in SAA could be available.
Davies has been speaking at the World Economic Forum (WEF) Africa meeting in Rwanda.
He says this week's meeting between the National Treasury and Zuma shows there's no conflict within government and that the SAA issue is not necessarily a source of tension.
Meanwhile, Deputy Reserve Bank Governor Daniel Mminele says South Africa's economy is not necessarily destined to start shrinking, but he adds the economy is very weak.
