JOHANNESBURG - Former president Thabo Mbeki says the Constitution is a national contract that belongs to all and more South Africans need to familiarise themselves with it.
The former statesman was speaking at an event organised by his foundation at Freedom Park in Pretoria to celebrate 20 years since the adoption of the Constitution and Mbeki's "I am an African" speech.
Mbeki says South Africans need to familiarise themselves with the supreme law book of the land.
"A lot of our people are not familiar with what this book constitutes."
The former statesmen has given a brief background on the journey to the formation of our Constitution.
A panel discussion is underway where former justice Zak Yacoob and others will contribute the debate about where we are in the country.
