Celebrations for new PSL champions Mamelodi Sundowns
After the match Patrice Motsepe drove onto the field & hundreds of fans stormed him to celebrate.
JOHANNESBURG - Mamelodi Sundowns were crowned PSL champions after beating Amatuks in Pretoria last night.
This is a record seventh championship victory for Sundowns since the start of the Premier Soccer League (PSL) in 1996, and it has come with two matches still to play this season.
The 'Brazilians' beat the University of Pretoria 3-0 at the Tuks Stadium to seal league glory with all three goals coming from Liberian marksman Anthony Laffor.
After the match, club president Patrice Motsepe drove onto the field, and as he exited his vehicle on crutches, hundreds of fans stormed him to celebrate.
Jomo Cosmos coach, Jomo Sono, says they deserve the title.
"They deserve it, they have been consistent the whole year and they have quality players. There is no coach in the PSL who wouldn't like to coach that team. They are brilliant and I said it long time ago that they will win the league."
