CAPE TOWN - A Cape Town man is in a stable condition in hospital after he was robbed and thrown from a moving train.

Darryn August sustained a spinal fracture and punctured lungs when he was attacked by nine men while on his way to work last week.

The suspects were allegedly armed with crowbars and knives.

According to his brother, Bernard, Darryn was stabbed in the head several times before he was flung from the train near Somerset West.

Bernard says doctors are yet to determine whether his brother will be able to walk again.
