AmaZulu appoints Joey Antipas as head coach
The 57-year-old will formally begin his duties on 1 July.
JOHANNESBURG - Amazulu have confirmed the signing of Joey Antipas, who's currently the coach of Zimbabwean Premier League side Chicken Inn FC.
The 57-year-old will formally begin with his duties on 1 July 2016.
"We have concluded the paperwork with Mr Joey Antipas and we're very pleased for the appointment. He's someone that will definitely bring the wit and experience that we need to rise above this season's underachievement, and also ensure we are a strong force in challenging for promotion next season."
The team said new coach joins the team at the time when it has been going through rough patch, having parted ways with Steve Barker last month.
He arrived at the club in 2014 from the University of Pretoria but had an unsuccessful season with the club, as they were automatically relegated to the NFD where they won just six of their league games.
Antipas has won two championships with Motor Action (2010) and Chicken Inn last season.
He holds a Caf B Coaching License and has spent time under European clubs, Borussia Dortmund and Brondby in Denmark as part of his studies in 2012 and 2013.
