CAPE TOWN - Police believe the body of a 21-year-old Khayelitsha woman who was reported missing earlier this year has been found.

Police made the discovery this afternoon at a residence in Makhaza.

The woman was reported missing at the end of January, she was last seen at a tavern in Lingelethu west.

The police's Andre Traut says a suspect has been arrested.

"A 23-year-old suspect is due to make an appearance in Khayelitsha Court on a charge of murder. This afternoon the body of a 21-year-old female was found at a residence in Makhaza."

Police say they can't release the victim's identity as the matter is still under investigation.

It's not clear if the body is that of a young woman reported missing after a night out with friends in January, celebrating her 21st birthday at a tavern in Khayelitsha.
