JOHANNESBURG - Durban police have arrested a man for kidnapping his own son and holding him hostage for eight days in Umlazi.
It's understood the 39-year-old man went to his ex-girlfriend's Empangeni home and found his 11-year-old son in the house with his aunt.
He forced his way inside, carrying a container of petrol.
He allegedly threatened to burn the house down if the aunt didn't allow him to take his son.
The police's Shooz Magudulela says the man was arrested over the weekend after police received tip-off.
"Police tracked him down until some section in Umlazi where they arrested and they took him back to Empangeni."
The child was found unharmed and has since been reunited with his mother.
