Swellendam cop due in court on corruption, drug charges

CAPE TOWN - A Swellendam police officer is expected in court today on charges of corruption, drug trafficking and defeating the ends of justice.

The sergeant was nabbed by the Hawks during a sting operation earlier this week.

Hawks spokesperson Lloyd Ramovha said, "We can confirm that the Hawks' anti-corruption unit arrested a 33-year-old police sergeant from Swellendam SAPS on charges of corruption, defeating the ends of justice and drug trafficking. He is due to appear at Swellendam Magistrates Court this morning."
