CAPE TOWN - The City of Cape Town says a recent ratings agency report had scored the municipality the best metro for service delivery and financial management.

Mayor Patricia de Lille announced this at a Cape Town council meeting today.

Ratings Afrika analysed a municipality's operational performance, budget practices and liquidity position to score them out of 100.

De Lille has told council the Ratings Afrika report confirms Cape Town as a "leader in service delivery and financial management".

She says the municipality was scored 75 out of 100, while Johannesburg received 37, Ekurhuleni 70 and Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality got 58.

"Root out corruption, appoint competent managers with the necessary skills to implement budgetary process and exercise financial discipline. This is precisely the kind of action that has been taken in Cape Town."
