CAPE TOWN - A City Of Cape Town mayoral committee member says she's shaken following an attempted car hijacking at her home.

Suzette Little says she and her driver came under attack on Tuesday night after arriving at her Penlyn Estate home.

Little adds a gunman shot at them and her driver returned fire. The armed man and two accomplices then fled.

She says her children witnessed the incident.

"My family is very traumatised, especially my children. When I left for work this morning my daughter was so upset and she wouldn't let me go out the front door. I'm going to have to deal with that this weekend and try to get them some help."
