JOHANNESBURG - A case of arson has been opened after three RDP houses were burnt in Vila Lisa, east of Johannesburg.

The houses are said to belong to government officials responsible for the distribution of RDP houses in the area.

One person was injured during the incident and taken to a hospital in the early hours of Tuesday.

Captain Tekiso Mofokeng has advised the community to express their anger in ways that are not violent.

"The police in Gauteng are appealing to community members that if there's anything that is disturbing then or they're not happy with, they must report it to the relevant authorities not to damage property."
