Germany awards Pandor with an Order of Merit

JOHANNESBURG - Minister of Science and Technology Naledi Pandor has received an Order of Merit from Germany for her contribution to the development of science globally.

The German ambassador to South Africa Walter Lindner presented the award to the minister at an event in Pretoria.

The merit has been awarded to people from around the world for their achievements in political, social or intellectual spheres.

Pandor says this award was a result of a team effort.

"It is also an award to the whole Department of Science and Technology, the government of South Africa, the people of South Africa and most importantly the researchers who do the hard research and development. So I'm proud that we have been recognised in this way."
