CAPE TOWN - Gale-force winds have caused a marquee tent to collapse at the Drakenstein Correctional Centre in Paarl, injuring several people.

Dignitaries, including Justice and Correctional Services Minister Michael Masutha were attending an event involving the 67 Blankets organisation.

The organisation is attempting to break the record for the world's largest crocheted blanket.

An eyewitness, Patrick Cromwell, was there.

He says, "The wind was getting stronger and we saw the side of the tent pick up a little and the next minute the entire canvas of the tent blew right off, right over the edge. I have heard that there were three people injured."
