Suspected robber hospitalised after alleged mob attack in George
The man & an alleged accomplice are accused of trying to rob a spaza shop on Saturday.
CAPE TOWN - A suspected robber is recovering in hospital following an alleged mob attack in George.
The man and another alleged accomplice are accused of trying to rob a spaza shop on Saturday.
But the pair was attacked by a group of residents and one of them was killed.
The police's Malcolm Poje said no arrests have been made at this stage.
"At about 12 o'clock on Saturday two suspects entered the spaza shop and assaulted the 23-year-old owner. They stabbed him with a knife in the back as well as on the side of his body.
"Members of the community that witnessed the incident confronted the suspects, and thereafter a fight broke out. The suspect was severely wounded and assaulted," he said.
