Semenya bags 3 national titles at ASA track & field championships

Caster Semenya made South African athletics history at Coetzenburg Stadium yesterday when she became the first person to win the 400m, 800m and 1,500m at a single South African Senior Athletics Championships, in one day.

JOHANNESBURG - Caster Semenya continued to build on her impressive form in the early stages of the season, making history with a remarkable treble victory on the second and final day of the ASA Senior Track and Field Championships at Coetzenburg Stadium, in Stellenbosch on Saturday.

Within the space of four hours, Semenya won the Women's 400m (50.76), 800m (1:58.46) and 1 500m (4:10.93) titles.

While it all went her own way with comfortable victories in the shorter events, she faced a strong challenge from US-based athlete Dominique Scott in the metric mile.
