7 killed on WC roads this weekend

One motorist caused an accident while driving on the wrong side if the N1 Highway near Old Oak Road.

CAPE TOWN - Seven people have been killed on Western Cape roads over the past weekend.

In one incident yesterday morning, a motorist caused an accident while driving on the wrong side of the N1 Highway near the Old Oak Road turn-off.

Western Cape Traffic Chief Kenny Africa says, "The driver of a Corsa bakkie drove from the incorrect side of the freeway and collided with another vehicle and in this accident the driver was burnt beyond recognition. And then the driver of the other vehicle also got killed in this accident."

Thirty-seven motorists were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.
