Khayelitsha vigilante killing suspects to appear in court
Four men allegedly beat a boy (17) to death and attacked his friend in Makhaza on Monday.
CAPE TOWN - Four Khayelitsha residents are due in court today in connection with an alleged vigilante killing.
A 17-year-old boy and his friend were attacked on Monday in the Makhaza area after they were accused of breaking into a shop.
The teenager was beaten to death while his friend was seriously injured.
Detectives first arrested the shopkeeper whose business was burgled at his Makhaza home.
The police's Frederick van Wyk says investigators then followed information that led to the arrest of three others.
"The four suspects aged between 30 and 39 are due to make a court appearance in the Khayelitsha Magistrates Court on a charge of murder."
Police also confiscated two vehicles they suspect were used during the suspected vigilante attack.
It's the fourth suspected vigilante killing reported in the Harare policing precinct in a month.
