‘GDE’s online registration will withstand high traffic volumes’
The dept says a team of experts has been appointed to monitor the system when it goes live next week.
JOHANNESBURG - Gauteng education MEC Panyaza Lesufi has assured parents that his department's online registration website will be able to handle high traffic volumes when it goes live next Tuesday.
The system crashed on Monday just hours after it opened for the 2017 registration for Grade 1 and Grade 8 pupils.
The department says the application process will continue until June.
Lesufi says his department has been flooded with queries from parents from across the country despite the system only catering for those looking for schools in the province.
He says a team of experts has been appointed to monitor the system when it goes live next week.
The education department says pupils who are not in Grade 1 and Grade 8 will still have to manually register.
