Mariah Carey speaking in Afrikaans & isiXhosa... Say What?
The singer's tongue quickly warmed up to Afrikaans and isiXhosa phrases, with no problem at all.
JOHANNESBURG - US pop star Mariah Carey stunned her South African fans when she nailed phrases in Afrikaans and isiXhosa.
The We Belong Together hit-maker will be in the country for her Sweet Sweet Fantasy tour later this month and next month.
She will perform in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban.
It seems she had no trouble at all saying 'Enkosi' ('Thank you' in isiXhosa) and also warmed up quickly to the Afrikaans phrase, 'Goeie môre Wes-Kaap ('Good morning Western Cape' in Afrikaans).
The singer added that she is very excited about coming to South Africa and looks forward to performing for local fans.
Guess what? She's also keen to try out traditional Mzansi dishes.
