JOHANNESBURG - The Outsourcing Must Fall campaign claims there was a "misunderstanding" between the group and one of their activists Vusi Mahlangu who claimed he was kidnapped which resulted in him being charged for perjury and defeating the ends of justice.

Mahlangu was arrested after he handed himself over to the Hawks, who were searching for him for eight days.

The activist sent a message to his colleagues claiming that he was kidnapped.

It now seems he was lying about his mysterious disappearance.

Outsourcing leader, Vuyo Mntonintshi, says they still support Mahlangu.

"We are going to wait for the court processes and we are still trusting that he would never [fake his own kidnapping]. At this stage we are fully behind him, he is still one of our leaders and we await him."
