Cops monitor Paarl following violent protests
Twenty-three people have been arrested for public violence after chaos erupted in the area yesterday.
CAPE TOWN - Police are monitoring an informal settlement in Paarl following a service delivery protest.
Chaos erupted when demonstrators converged on a municipal building and started pelting cars with rocks yesterday.
At least three vehicles were struck and set on fire.
The police's Andre Traut said, ""The situation in Paarl is being policed and 23 people have been arrested for public violence and will make a court appearance once they have been charged."
It's understood some Mbekweni residents were behind the protests over the poor roll-out of electricity in the area.
