CAPE TOWN - South African Breweries (SAB) have confirmed to EWN Sport that it will be renewing their sponsorship with South African Rugby.

SAB are currently an associate sponsor with rights to the Rugby Championship, the tournament involving New Zealand, Australia and Argentina, as well as the incoming and outgoing Tours.

Details of the deal, which it's understood could be bigger than the current one, are still being thrashed out but an announcement is expected within the next two weeks.

Last year BMW opted not to renew their contract with SA Rugby, while Absa's deal with the Springboks, which was reported to have been ended is still bound by a confidentiality agreement as the parties appear to be engaged in talks.

SAB Sponsorship Manager Errol Madlala believes the public will be excited once the deal is announced.

"We'll be announcing it a lot sooner, we're currently targeting the week of 18 April to be able to announce to the public the nature of our renewal and I'm sure that the public will also be as excited when we make that announcement."

Madlala confirmed their ongoing relationship with SA Rugby.

"So what I can tell you is that we definitely are renewing, so we'll be announcing what is it that this renewal details with SA Rugby from 2016 onwards is."

He says the terms of the relationship will change going forward.

"We've had a good relationship with SA Rugby over time to date, so which means we'll still continue the relationship and I think what we'll be announcing should be exciting."
